Vinyl Sheet

Sheet vinyl. The right answer for true wet rooms.

When water resistance is the priority and aesthetics are secondary, laundry rooms, mudrooms, basement-level baths, rental flips, sheet vinyl is the cleanest option. Properly installed sheet vinyl with heat-welded seams gives you a continuous waterproof membrane that LVP planks and tile cannot match.

What do homeowners ask about Vinyl Sheet?

Is sheet vinyl outdated?

The cheap 70s-style sheet vinyl is. Modern sheet vinyl from manufacturers like Tarkett, Armstrong, and Forbo has photorealistic prints, embossed textures, and surfaces that look closer to LVP than to grandma's kitchen floor. For wet rooms, it's still the best technical solution.

How is sheet vinyl different from LVP?

LVP is individual planks that click together, joints between planks are not waterproof, even on rigid-core products. Sheet vinyl is a continuous roll with welded seams, truly waterproof when installed with cove base flash-up. For full wet rooms, sheet wins. For most living areas, LVP looks better and feels more substantial.

Will I see seams?

We size and order rolls to minimize seams. In rooms under 12 feet wide, no seams. In larger rooms, we plan seams to fall at low-traffic and low-visibility areas, and we heat-weld with color-matched welding rod. Seams are visible on close inspection but invisible underfoot.

How long does sheet vinyl last?

Residential sheet vinyl: 10 to 20 years depending on traffic and product grade. Commercial-grade Marmoleum and high-end heterogeneous sheet vinyl: 20 to 30 years. Wear layer thickness drives longevity, we recommend 20-mil minimum for residential, 30-mil for commercial.

Twenty-year-old oak floors that I was about to replace. They sanded, stained, and sealed them, they look brand new. Dust containment was real. Crew was on time every day. Cost a third of what replacement would have been.

Hardwood Refinishing Carlsbad

Got three quotes for the same LVP. Surface Pro was the only one that probed the slab for moisture before quoting. Two other contractors would have skipped it. Floor's been down six months and there's not a single edge curling anywhere.

LVP Installation El Cajon

Coastal house, slab on grade. They explained why solid hardwood was a bad call here and walked me through engineered options. Picked European white oak, glue-down install. Looks like real wood because it is real wood, but handles the humidity.
